Inside of body. The pull rod operates the beak and lifts the wings.

According to the parts map diagram the "Foot Lift" should have two holes along the centerline of the part. But the holes were pretty far off center on my Foot Lift. The result is that one foot stepped much higher that the other. I fixed this by gluing a shim to the top of the "Upper Front Cam Bar" as shown by the red arrow below.

Here's a close-up of the mechanism. Red arrow indicates the "Upper Front Cam Bar" shim noted above.

Another important consideration with this kit is that the whole foot mechanism is powered in only one direction. The mechanism relies on gravity for half its movement. It's vital that these parts move freely with no friction.
