Aimee the Dog
Aimee was adopted on February, 24, 2018. Our vet thought she was about two years old. So let's say she was born in 2016. She appears to be a Treeing Walker Coonhound - undocumented.
Smokey the Cat
On Friday, December 30, 2016 we went to our local SPCA (just to look) and came home with Smokey. She's about eight pounds and as far as we know she was born in October 2009.
Belle the Dog... 2005-2017
Belle was adopted from a shelter in May of 2007. As far as we know she was born in May of 2005. She was classified as "Lab/mix". That's shelter-speak for mutt. Muttador Retriever? Over the years we became convinced that there was a significant amount of hound in the mix based on her mannerisms and voice.
We lost Belle to lymphoma in December 2017.
Scruffy the Cat... 20??-2016
I had joked that Belle the dog should have a pet of her own. Well... Meet Scruffy. She was a little Pixie-Bob rumpy we found starving under our shed in the fall of 2010. The plan was to get her healthy and find her a home. But she became a permanent member of the family instead. Turns out she was a well-mannered, inquisitive, adaptable, happy little cat. Dog/cat relations were touch and go at first, but soon everyone got along.
Eventually we identified Scruffy's previous owners. They were happy to hear that their lost cat survived and found a good home. But they were content to let her go and we were content to keep her. We did learn a few bits of trivia about our new cat...
Scruffy's old name was Pixie.
Scruffy was supposed to be a purebred Pixie-Bob (undocumented).
Scruffy had a litter before being spayed.
We were probably Scruffy's third owners, but we still don't know how old she may have been.
Scruffy's broken upper canine was probably from a goat collision.
We lost Scruff in July 2016. Her kidneys had mostly failed although we were able comfortably extend her life another four months with a daily sub-q treatment.
