The Outhouses
"Where are the restrooms?" is perhaps the most frequently asked question at the WK&S. From the station area, you'll find modern restroom facilities by walking past the refreshment stand and turning left.
The original "facilities" comprised a pair of two-sided good-old-fashioned, hole-in-the-ground outhouses behind the gift shop and refreshment stand areas. At least one of the two outhouses had been constructed by the time the railroad first opened for business in May 1963. One was designated boys/girls and the other was men/women. Both were closed in 1983. One remained standing until 2005.
Around 1983 the WK&S caved to the demands of a modern world and constructed a new block restroom building. The new facility features such modern conveniences as running water, soap, paper towels and heat!
