Reading Coach #1365

Reading coach #1365 was built in 1915 and is part of the original stable of equipment run by the WK&S. When the coach was delivered to the WK&S it was painted solid olive with Reading Company livery. The car number appeared twice on each side of the coach toward the end vestibule doors. The railroad was only two years old when the picture above was snapped in 1965. This color photo shows #1365 dressed in shinny WK&S paint. I don't know why #1365 was left to deteriorate. The railroad fell on hard times during the late '60s and early '70s. Perhaps #1365 was just one coach too many. The coach is under restoration. Well... sort of. There always seems to be a more pressing project that takes priority. Don't expect to see #1365 back in service anytime soon.

Picture from 1980. The car has been removed from service by now. It's receiving some attention, but the work will stall.

...but the coach still has a long way to go.
